Learning Related Vision Issues
A child needs many abilities to succeed in school. Good vision is key. Reading, writing, board work and using computers are among the visual tasks students perform daily. A child's eyes are constantly in use in the classroom. When his or her vision is not functioning properly, learning can suffer.
Amblyopia is a deficit in the neurological system. Treatment is aimed at strengthening the weaker eye. Traditionally, this has been done through patching therapy and/or surgical means. There are now better evidence-based methods for treating amblyopia that go beyond patching.
Vision can be compromised due to a neurological insult or trauma. Binocular vision training can effectively rehabilitated visual symptoms and visual inefficiencies resulting from this trauma. Those who are suffering from a stroke, concussion or other brain injury often need visual rehabilitation to enhance recovery.
“Vision therapy was a game-changer for us. We knew something was “off” for our daughter when it came to reading, writing and the chronic headaches she suffered at school/while reading.”
